The Studios of Key West (TSKW), an arts community in Key West, Florida, was honored to be asked to take the reins of the Robert Frost International Poetry Contest, a prestigious literary tradition which was founded by the Heritage House Museum in 1994, as a component to the widely popular Robert Frost Poetry Festival. The festival came to an end after Heritage House was sold and closed their doors in 2010. TSKW is happy to continue the annual contest, which honors Robert Frost and encourages the creation of new poetry and haiku.
The Studios of Key West offers one top winner in each category (poetry and haiku) a two week-residency in private cottages at the TSKW campus in Key West and a $200 cash prize. Five awards in all will be recognized in each category. TSKW accepts contest entries by email and mail between January 1 and March 15 each year. Entries are judged by well-respected and award-winning poets and writers of haiku. Winners will be announced and contacted on April 1. Winning poems will also be featured on our website at TSKW.org, as well as printed and exhibited in our Space 2 Gallery.

Through funds established by the Jeane and Jessie Porter Fund at the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, TSKW is proud to administer a special component of the contest. Jeane Porter was especially committed to encouraging young writers, and supported the Poetry in Schools contest in Monroe County. The Frost Poetry Contest for Children and Teens continues to nurture and develop the interest of young poets by hosting two juried contests for children ages 6-12 and teens ages 13-18. Poetry can be any length, based on any subject, and be rhymed or unrhymed. Merit awards, certificates, and prizes will be awarded, and participants with winning entries will be publicly recognized. Six awards (1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and three honorable mentions) will be selected from each age group. Each individual may enter up to 3 written works. There is no fee to enter. The contest for children and teens accepts entries from February 15-March 15 each year.Find details and submission guidelines at www.tskw.org.
